Wanda “Jan” Merrill

Wanda “Jan” Merrill, age 70, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida. Born on April 9, 1956, in Thomasville, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Harvard and Martha Ennis.

Jan dedicated her professional career to caring for others, serving as an Administrator and Business Office Manager of a nursing home before her well-earned retirement. Outside of her career, she had a vibrant creative spirit and a passion for life. She found immense joy in painting, attending art classes, playing Bingo, and traveling to new places. Above all, her greatest happiness came from spending precious time with her family.

Jan was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harvard and Martha Ennis, and her son, James Baker.

She is survived by her devoted spouse, Bruce Merrill; her loving children, Beverly (Joe) Gamalero and Jeff Baker; and her cherished grandchildren, Jordan Baker, Natalie (Mati) Kedziora, Levi Baker, Alora Gamalero, and Lily Baker. Her memory will be forever treasured by all who knew and loved her.

A service celebrating Jan’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, located at 446 Hatchett Rd, Lamont, FL 32336.

In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated toward final expenses.
