Obituary For Walter Hugh Fouche
Walter Hugh (Poppa) Fouche 69, passed away after his battle with Alzheimer’s disease on February 27, 2025 with his wife and family by his side.
He was born February 20, 1956, to Betty and Julian Fouche in Dawson, Georgia. After high school and several jobs, he decided to continue his education, graduating in 1985 from Albany Technical College as a radiologic technologist. He worked in his field for 34 years, in Albany, Ga., Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Perry, FL, retiring in 2019 from Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Perry FL. He made friends easily and was known for his kindness and quick wit and he will be missed greatly by friends, co-workers and especially his family.
Walter was blessed with eight grandsons, one granddaughter and one great grandson. He dearly loved and enjoyed watching them play football, baseball, run track as well as swimming and fishing with them in the Suwannee River.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy Norton Fouche and sons Josh (Kelley) Humphries, Jacob (Cameron) Humphries, and Jed (Rozie) Humphries, his sister Ann (Brian) Loftus, and his brother Ed (Pam) Fouche, his best friends Steve and Patricia Carver as well as many brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his mother Betty and father Julian Fouche.
“Poppa” Walter’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace embraced by the Love of Family and Faith. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
