Obituary For Vickie Karen Cumbess Davis
Vickie, beloved mother, sister, Nana, daughter and friend, passed away peacefully on June 21st at the age of 71. She was born in Lake City, FL to Doris Cheshire and William T Cumbess, Jr "Jack".
A nurturing soul with a generous heart, Vickie lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and deep compassion for others. A lifelong gardener, Vickie found joy and peace in the soil—planting beauty, patience, and hope with every seed. Her garden was not only a reflection of nature’s splendor but also a symbol of the care and devotion she gave so freely to others.
As a trusted counselor and confidant, she had the rare gift of truly listening. Many turned to her for wisdom, comfort, and clarity—always leaving with a lighter heart and renewed strength. She believed deeply in people, in doing what was right, and in standing up for those who could not stand alone. Her kitchen was often filled with the rich aromas of lovingly prepared meals, a testament to her skill as a cook and joy in bringing people together. Family, friends, and even strangers were welcomed into her home with open arms, a warm plate, and a place at the table. Vickie gave more than she ever asked for, never seeking the spotlight but always showing up where it mattered most. The impact of her presence, kindness, and steady belief in others will be felt for generations to come.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter Tonia (John) Lafond, her son Woodrow (Amber) Davis, her 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, her surviving sisters Carolyn (Roger) Creamer, Beth (Harold) Powell , her nephews Ricky Drummond, Bo Powell, nieces Serana (Al) Otero, Kendra (Brian) Crews, Cherie (Ryne) Allen, Michelle Hammett, many grand nieces and nephews, as well as the countless lives she touched with her generosity, wisdom, and grace.
A celebration of Vickie's life will be held on July 12th at 11 am at Watertown Congregational Methodist Church, 1024 Okinawa Rd, Lake City, FL 32055.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations of trees or plants to be planted on Vickie's farm.
