Obituary For Velva Ann Coffman

Quincy FL- Velva Ann Coffman, 69, of Quincy, FL passed away on January 29th, 2024 at her home surrounded by her three loving daughters after a very aggressive stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis on Jan 9th 2024.

Velva was born on January 29th, 1955 in Westbrook, Maine, one of five children to Boyd A. Jr and Gloria D (McDonald) Garner. She attended Westbrook schools. Velva worked various jobs: UNUM, Park Danforth, Keeley’s Banquet, and Time Warner Cable to name a few.

Velva loved Maine. She loved Sebago Lake and going to the beach. She loved fishing, camping, and gardening and always had lots of plants and flowers. She loved working on crafts and projects. She enjoyed crocheting for many years, making baby items and holiday crafts too. She loved to decorate. Her home was always filled with flowers, colorful pictures, pictures of her family and grandkids and especially loved butterfly decor. She loved animals and had many pets over her years. Her most precious dog was Niota, her brother’s dog that she took in after he passed away. She loved bargain shopping, checking out the clearance racks and going to Goodwill. She loved clothes and always had a colorful and vibrant style and lots of it. Velva was an avid football fan. Her favorite team was the New England Patriots, however, this year she was rooting for the 49ers for this upcoming Super Bowl.

Velva loved helping others and people would say she had “a heart of gold”. She loved helping out her friends, loved her three daughters, and absolutely adored her grandchildren more than anything. She was absolutely excited when she became a Grammie to Madison (16) Lucas (15) and Cassiopeia (1).

Velva is survived by her daughters, Dawn Winslow of Portland, OR; Robyn Martinez of Quincy, FL and her son Lucas; Christine Frentz and her husband Matthew of Newnan, GA and their children Madison and Cassi. She is also survived by a brother Raymond Garner in Mocksville, NC, her Aunt Marie “Toots” Jackson, her Uncle Francis McDonald and many cousins, three nephews and a niece. She was predeceased by her sisters Christine Garner and Joyce Nowden, her brother Mark Garner, and her parents.
