Obituary For Tim Carl Knighten, Jr.

In Loving Memory

of

Tim Carl Knighten Jr.

April 25, 1950 – September 15, 2023

The blessed arrival of Tim Carl Knighten Jr. happened in Detroit, Michigan on April 25, 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. Tim Carl and Leona Knighten Sr.

He grew up in the small Polish town of Hamtramck Michigan on Yemans Street where all families knew each other and gave their love and support. Tim Jr. as he was known by his siblings and friends was exceptionally smart, quite inquisitive and had a great sense of humor. He read just about everything he could get his hands on and his high intelligence had him advance ahead a couple of grades. Early on his family knew he was seeking a different path and eventually he found it.

His new path was a spiritual journey for the last 54 years of his life where he would now be known as Bhutabhavana das. This led to him preaching the word of God, sending him to places as far as East and West Africa where he assisted the pioneering of opening Hare Krishna temples there, as well as his devotional service in many temples in North America.
In 1982 he married his wife Shirley (aka Shaktimata Dasi) and they had four sons; Dattatreya, Devananda, Dhanvantari and Dhananjaya. Tim also enjoyed traveling with his wife and especially loved to go on cruises. He developed many wonderful friendships through their travels that he cherished.
On September 15, 2023 Bhutabhavana das, Tim C Knighten Jr. unexpectedly returned home to our Supreme Father.
Bhutabhavana, Tim Jr. also leaves behind to cherish his memories his two daughter-in-laws Radharani and Courtney, his two grandchildren Yogesvari and Maitreya, his siblings Shirley Daniels, Gloria Cowser and Jerry & Tondalaya Knighten, and their respective families giving us many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews; cousin Rev. Charlie E. & Arma Knighten, other relatives, his many godbrothers, godsisters, extended spiritual family and a host of friends.
Bhutabhavana was very grateful to his spiritual father Srila Prabhupada and chanting the Lord’s names of Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare was his life.

Do not cry or feel alone, Don’t shed your tears because I am gone. My body may be gone and out of site But my spirit and all my love Shall be with you both day and night

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when I am done. Of happy times, laughing times, and bright sunny days

For the soul there is neither birth nor death. Nor having once been, does he ever cease to be. He is unborn, and eternal. He does not die when the body dies.
(Bhagavad-Gita 2.20)
