Obituary For Scott Darwin Hurley
Scott D. Hurley born in Washington DC on July 6th, 1954, was called home in Gainesville Florida on August 9th, 2024. He is preceded death by his loving parents Harvey A. Hurley, Norma l. (Nee Buckbee) Hurley and his younger brother David Hurley.
Shortly after Scott was born, his parents moved to Nanjemoy, Maryland, where he would spend many years. However, Maryland was never the ending destination for him. He yearned to be in an environment that did not involve the inconvenience of snow and freezing weather. So, he decided to welcome a fresh new start and spend the rest of his days in the beautiful Sunshine state in Lawtey, Florida.
He made a new life in Florida but the only thing that changed was the weather. He still faithfully watched football and baseball. He still rooted for Dale Earnhardt in the NASCAR races. He still did the same outside activities like fishing and hunting. He still admired Harley Davidsons.
Scott was and always will be the life of the party with a sense of humor that was noteworthy. “Quick with a joke or light of your smoke.” When he wasn’t entertaining you with his humor he was educating you. He was a fountain of knowledge and could tell you anything you wanted to know about trees, stars, birds and constellations. He truly was a walking encyclopedia.
Scott is survived by his only daughter Tammy Hurley-Jupiter (David), his three precious grandchildren, Sierra, Zekiah, and Araiya-Da’lyn. His two sisters Bonnie Johnson (Ricky) of Maryland, Linda Cupps (Tim) of Arizona and Brother Terry Hurley (Katie) of Delaware. Not to mention many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and numerous cousins.
Scott Hurley will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He will live on through the many memories that were shared, all 70 years of his wonderful life. He was a baptized Christian man, so we know he was welcomed home by his lord and savior. We will see him again.
Celebration of life will be held August 31st,2024.
