Obituary List

United States Army Veteran Richard J. Elkins born on December 18th, 1956, in Michigan City, Indiana lost his relentless battle with cancer on August 31st, 2024. He passed peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Richard grew up in Rolling Prairie, Indiana. At age 23, Richard, on May1st, 1979, joined the United States Army. Here, he would spend 9 faithful years serving our country until being honorably discharged on November 23rd, 1988. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 297 in New Carlisle, Indiana, where from 2003-2005 he served as the Post Commander.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Carolyn Elkins,
sons Brian (Ginny) Aga, Christopher Elkins, Daughter Sharon Newman, grandsons Kaleo Cambra, Eric Newman, and granddaughter Maili Aga, also surviving, brothers Bruce (Judy) Elkins, Glen (Robin) Elkins, sister Dora Martin. Several nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held at ICS Cremation and Funeral home on October 16th, 2024, at 2:00pm.
