Obituary For Rachel Delane (Mincey) Poulimenos

A garden awaits...

May she be carried home by gentle wind and current.

Rachel Delane (Mincey) Poulimenos, 89, of Havana, Florida, passed away on December 21, 2025, at Big Bend Hospice, Margaret Z. Dozier House in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born on February 19, 1936, in Point Washington, Florida, to Isaac Edgar and Martha (Kinsey) Mincey.

Rachel was a fourth-generation Floridian. Her mother, grandmother, and siblings were also born in Point Washington, Walton County. The family later moved to Leesburg, Florida, where she graduated from Leesburg High School in 1954.

Following high school, Rachel attended the Southern Baptist School of Nursing in New Orleans. She graduated in 1958 as a Registered Nurse (RN) and returned to Leesburg, where she later married. In the 1970s, she returned to school and earned her cosmetology license, joining her husband at Mademoiselle Beauty Salon. They worked side by side for more than 20 years.

After retirement, Rachel and her husband moved to Mentone, Alabama, where they spent nearly 20 years on Lookout Mountain. They enjoyed antiquing and gardening. In 2017, they relocated to Havana, Florida, to be closer to their daughter.

Rachel was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Quincy, Florida, joining shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the pandemic and her health, she was unable to participate fully but remained deeply connected to her faith.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Mincey; her sisters, Hazel Wintersdorf, Mary Rempe, and Juanita Koss; and her husband, Leo (Leonidas) Poulimenos. She is survived by her daughter, DeeAnna Merz Nagel of Havana, Florida; several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins.
