Obituary For Norma Jean Woods
Norma Jean Woods, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, on January 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and simple joys. On April 6, 1951 she was born in the heart of Charleston, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Jack and Helen Armes.
A woman of family and faith, Norma’s life was defined by the deep connections she shared with those she held dear. She was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Armes, and her beloved son, William "Buddy" Hutson of Mansfield, Ohio.
Norma is survived by her devoted siblings who carry her memory forward: Sharon Miller of Galion, Ohio; Thomas Armes and his wife, Terilla, of Catawba, Ohio; and Bobby Armes and his wife, Melanie, of LaGrange, Georgia.
Her spirit lives on through her children, who were her pride and joy: Cheryl Armstrong of Galion, Ohio; Michelle Todd and her husband, Matt, of Lake City, Florida; Norma Maddox of Alamo, Tennessee; and Robert Hutson and his wife, Renee, of Humboldt, Tennessee. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Brenda Hutson.
Norma’s greatest treasures were her grandchildren: Robert Hutson Jr., Cheyenne Hutson, Lora Hutson, Jessica Tipton, Matthew Todd Jr., Phillip Fromm, Chad Fromm, Heather Fromm, Jacob Harber, Cody Coontz, Desirae Todd, and Joseph Todd. Her legacy further blossoms through her many great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Twice married, Norma found a true partner in her second husband. Together, they embraced the beauty of the open road, moving across many states and savoring the richness of life as a team. Since his passing many years ago, Norma found solace in the quiet pleasures she loved most—casting a line while fishing and settling in to watch her favorite old TV shows and classic Westerns.
Norma Jean Woods will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her resilient heart, and the warmth she brought to every room. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
