Obituary For Mona Grace Bryne

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. After a brief illness, Mona reunited with her husband in heaven for eternity on January 19th, 2025, at the age of 64. Mona was born on July 29th 1960, in Nome Alaska to the late Fred Ozenna Sr. and Ida Ozenna. Mona was one of 8 siblings and the 2nd born daughter to Fred and Ida. She is preceded in death by her older sister Catherine, all her brothers, Dickson, Larry, Jack, Fred Jr. John and Ronald, her best friend Ruthie Dixon, and lastly, her husband of 36 years Michael Bryne.

Mona met Michael in Nome AK. when he as serving in the US Army where they became inseparable. After Michaels retirement of the Army, they decided to move to Syracuse NY. Deciding Syracuse was not for them, Mona wanted to fly south to live along the warm Florida coast. Her husband Michael made her dream come true and made the move to Mexico Beach Florida in 1988 where they resided until 2015. She enjoyed the warm, white sandy beaches along the Gulf coast, finding seashells, reading her books in the sunshine and watching the sunset. While living in Florida, she never forgot about her friends and family in Alaska and made sure she didn’t lose contact with the ones she loved and who were the most important to her. In 2015, she and Michael decided to move to Mayo Florida where they lived until their passing. Mona will be remembered for her caring heart who always put others before herself.

Mona is survived by her 2 children Michael Bryne II of Mayo Florida, Sheila Daves (Mike), her 3 grandchildren, Jeremy, Bryce and Makayla Daves all of Charleston WV, her “baby sister” Connie (Steve) Lyon of Van Cleave Mississippi, two special nieces, Katherine Ozenna and Kelsey Lyon, one special nephew Josh Lyon and finally, her other best friend Briday Green of Nome AK.

The family would like to thank the HCA Florida Lake City ICU nurses and doctors who cared for Mona during the time she was there, as well as Ms. Heather with Haven Hospice. We are grateful for the compassion, kindness, care and support given to Mona and her family during her final days.

There are no funeral services at this time and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
