Mary Lou Steen

August 9, 1942 – January 28, 2026 Age 83

Mary “Mardi” Lou Steen passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Mary’s church was an important part of her life, providing her with connection, purpose, and a place where she felt at home. She will be remembered for her humor, her
independence, and the distinctive presence she brought into the lives of those who knew her. Her friends and church family often speak of her warmth and her lively spirit, and each person who knew her carries their own memories of her. Her life, like all lives, held both joys and challenges, and she will be remembered with love for the path she walked.

She leaves behind family who carry both the lessons and the love she offered, each in their own measure. Her life was imperfect, real, and uniquely hers, and she will be remembered with respect for the journey she traveled.

Mary is survived by her children: Debra Drake (Alex Inthavong), Kimberly McDonald, Robert Steen (Tammy), and Carl Glenn Steen (Jo Ellen); her grandchildren: Michael Drake (Kesha), Nicholas Drake (Jhaesea), Janea Calkins (Justin), Elizabeth Gaitten (Kayne), Madison Parrish (Anthony), Joey (Vanessa), and Chris (Alecia); and ten greatgrandchildren.

Her family will host a virtual celebration of life for close family and friends, and her church community will hold a separate memorial. Dates for both will be announced once arrangements are finalized. Additional information regarding gifts or donations in lieu of flowers will also be shared.
