Lynda Gail Velasquez (Craven), 56, a beloved daughter, sister, and passionate animal lover, passed away on November 8, 2025, at HCA North Florida Hospital in Gainesville, FL, following complications after surgery. She was born on September 9, 1969, in Fort Myers, FL.

Lynda’s nurturing spirit touched everyone around her—especially the children in our family, extended family, and her beloved chihuahua, Sassy. She always made time to visit loved ones and watch over the kids. Though she had only one sibling, she was a big sister to many.

Lynda had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests, including Betty Boop, Tweety Bird, horses, unicorns, Native American art, music, arts & crafts, and, of course, Sassy.

She is survived by her brother William Griffis (Susana Griffis), nephew Devin Griffis, uncles Lester Butler (Kathy Butler) and Waldo Butler (CleEtta Butler), cousins Gene Butler, Boone Butler, Cliff Hadley, Cynthia Bustin (Hadley), Shaun Butler, Jennifer Butler, and Lynda’s fiancé Gary Wood.

She is preceded in death by her mother Linda Lambert (Craven), grandmother Geneva Butler (Craven), grandfather Walter Butler, and aunt Lois Hadley-Bentley (Butler).

In keeping with her wishes, Lynda will forgo a viewing or funeral. She will be cremated and later laid to rest with her beloved grandparents.
