Obituary For John Russell Barton

John Russell Barton, 94 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 10, 2026, at Haven Hospice in Lake City.

He was a proud UNITED STATES Army veteran that served in the Korean War. John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a very social person that never met a stranger. His favorite hobby was visiting flea markets. Whether he was selling or buying he could always make a new friend.

He is survived by his children, Johanna Herrera, Beth Schumer (John), John “Rusty” Barton III, Patrick Barton (Christine), Kamala Atkinson (Brandon), and Kristopher Barton (Jeannie), his 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

No service is scheduled at this time.
In Lieu of flowers, a donation to the veteran’s association of your choice would be
appreciated.

    We lived on the same street only 2 houses apart. For a long time he seemed very active until the middle of last year but no matter how many times he was in the hospital, upon his release he would be back outside on his scooter checking on us all. He will be missed. Rusty, and your family, I send my deepest condolences He rests, now healed.
