Obituary For John "Lit" Littleton Cole, III
John Littleton “Lit” Cole, III.
June 16, 1976 – January 2, 2026
John Littleton Cole, III, lovingly known as Lit, was a devoted man of God, faithful servant, father, PooPaw, mentor, and community leader whose life reflected Christ through action. Born on June 16, 1976, John passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 49 in Lake City, FL leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and love that will endure for generations.
John was known and deeply loved by many. He relentlessly pursued the things of God’s Kingdom and lived his faith openly and humbly. His love for his children, grandchildren, and community was unwavering, and his impact reached far beyond what he ever sought recognition for.
In 2019, John stepped into leadership as President of Kids Feeding Kids, carrying forward the vision and mission founded by his father, John Cole Jr, after his father was diagnosed with kidney cancer. With deep respect and determination, John continued his father’s dream of feeding the hungry—not only through food distribution, but by empowering families to grow their own food and sustain themselves.
John provided leadership as a Agriculture Educator, managed the operations of the Kids Feeding Kids Thrift Store, and coordinated fundraising efforts and annual outreach events throughout the year. Through these efforts, countless families were fed, children were served, and communities were strengthened. John believed that no one, especially children, should ever go without.
Selfless and servant-hearted, John preferred to work quietly behind the scenes. He never sought the spotlight, choosing instead to faithfully do the work God placed before him. His heart for ministry was evident in his weekly Bible studies, where he poured wisdom, humility, and truth into others. Through his obedience and faith, he led many to Christ and had the honor of baptizing several along the way.
Above all, John was a loving father and a proud PooPaw, whose guidance, faith, and love will forever be cherished.
He is survived by his mother, Emily Cole, and is reunited in heaven with his father, John Cole Jr., who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his children: Ciara Johnson (wife of Jason Johnson), Ashleigh Cole, Emmy Cole, and Tyler Sansouci. He found great joy in being “PooPaw” to his grandchildren: Thad and Cali Johnson (Ciara and Jason Johnson), and Spencer and Lucas Sansouci. He is also survived by his siblings: Rick Cole and wife Dee-Ann Cole, Randy Tate and wife Sherry Tate, and Angie Tate Pye and husband Dusty Pye, as well as many nieces, nephews, and loved ones who will miss him deeply.
With hearts full of gratitude for a life well-lived, the family invites friends and loved ones to gather in remembrance. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lake City Church of Christ, where we will share stories and honor a beautiful legacy.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lake City Church of Christ, 656 US Hwy 47, Lake City, FL 32025.
Joshua 1:9-“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
