On Sunday, April 7, 2024, James Rodney Joyner passed away from lung cancer at the age of 73. Rodney was born December 24, 1950, in Jacksonville to Jim and Bonnie (Edenfield) Joyner. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1969. On August 25, 1970, he married Melissa Charlene Lewis. They raised 3 children, Crystal Ingram Free (Anthony), Rachel Stephens (Charlie), and Jim Joyner (Angela).

Rodney had a passion for music and sports. He loved to sing and play guitar. He was known for his quick wit and loving spirit.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his ex-wife, Charlene, his 3 children, his 4 grandchildren (Brooke Stephens, Lance Ingram, Faith Ingram, and Layla Joyner), his sisters (Gail Kinlaw and Susan Williams), and many other loving family members.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Westside Community Center (431 SW Birley Ave., Lake City) at 6pm Thursday, April 11. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Haven Hospice (6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City).
