Obituary For Jacqueline Drucilla Carmichael
Jacqueline “Jackie” Drucilla Skeen Carmichael
Jackie Carmichael, 82, passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, after suffering a stroke on Christmas day. Jackie was born on January 5, 1941, to Drew and Eva Clark Skeen. She was a native of Live Oak and 1959 graduate of Suwannee High School. She worked at the movie theatre in downtown Live Oak during her teenage years and later as a telephone operator, before marrying her husband of 61 years, Clyde J. “Jerry” Carmichael, in 1962.
Jackie was a “cut-up” with a witty personality, and enjoyed time spent with family, church family, friends, and her dogs. She also enjoyed thrifting and would say it was her therapy. She is fondly remembered for songs and ditties she wrote and sang, and you never knew when she might break out in “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
She is survived by her husband, Clyde J. “Jerry” Carmichael; children: Robinette (Tim) Odom, Jerome Carmichael, Tabbi (James) Robinson, Reyn (Delina) Carmichael, and Rory (Torie) Carmichael; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister Jo Ann Skeen Carmichael; and brother Harold (Sharon) Skeen. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Geneal Skeen Brock.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Westwood Baptist Church, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to service time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Haven Hospice or to Companion Animal Hospital in Live Oak, on behalf of the Suwannee County Animal Shelter spay/neuter program.
