Obituary For HERTA M WEISS

Thursday March 2, 2023, Herta (Oma) Maria Weiss peacefully fell asleep in death. She was born on April 5, 1929, in O?enbach, Germany. She met the love of her life Frederick A. Weiss and was married to him on May 22, 1959. She dedicated her life to her God Jehovah along with her husband Fred on January 14, 1973, by water baptism as Jehovah’s Witnesses. She and her husband Fred (Big Fred) were renowned for their generous spirit and hospitality. She was a modern-day example of the Biblical Lydia. Herta was known for always being in her kitchen cooking up a storm or working in her amazing garden. Her garden was so beautiful that she was approached by a community magazine local to Towson, Maryland where they lived wanting to feature pictures of it. Herta modestly declined saying this is for her personal joy and for her friends and family. She didn’t want to draw attention to herself. She was always thinking of others and looking for ways to help others. She was a diligent minister of the sharing in the spreading of the Good News about God’s Kingdom. Even during her most recent hospital stay she was actively witnessing and did the same here at home with her medical team. The last Saturday before she passed, she asked her daughter-in-law, “what are we going to do today for service?” She was wheelchair bound at the time but still wanted to be in the ministry. She became a familiar sight on the boardwalk and ?shing pier in Jacksonville Beach with her son pushing her wheelchair and her Bible in hand. She had a strong hope in the resurrection as she knew her health was declining. She continued to remind her children to stay faithful to Jehovah and she would see them in paradise. (Job 14:14,15; Revelation 21:3,4, Isaiah 26:19) She set a stellar example in her life as a faithful servant of Jehovah to her last day. She loved reading her Bible daily. She studied for the meetings diligently and loved to give comments at congregation meetings and singing Kingdom songs. Throughout her life she always had a dachshund at her side. The most current being her darling miniature dachshund, Edelweiss. Herta was pre-deceased by: Her parents Adolph Herd and Dora Eckweiler -Herd, beloved husband Frederick A Weiss, sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Gunther Laeske. She was the cherished and devoted mother of; Susan (Sue) and her husband Gary, Fred (Freddy) and his wife Vanessa (Naiomi). Doting Oma to Erin Missey and Anika Weiss, loving aunt to Klaus Laeske and his wife Georgeta, Herta Frick and her husband Herbert, Beloved Great Aunt of Daniela and Madueno, Carsten and Simone, Tobias and Astrid, Manuel Great-Great Aunt to Sarah, Jordis, Marcus, Leanna, and Lara.

A memorial service will be held via zoom on April 29, 2023, at 1pm Eastern Standard Time, invitations will be sent via email.
