Obituary For Gregory Carroll Sorrells

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Gregory Carroll Sorrells, a beloved husband,
father, grandfather, and friend, who left us at the age of 77. Born on August 20, 1947, he was a man whose life was defined by strength, love, loyalty, and a remarkable ability to tell stories that captivated everyone who knew him.

For 55 years, Greg was the loving and devoted husband of Linda, his true partner in life. Their
bond was one of unwavering commitment and affection, a love that only grew stronger with each
passing year. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories, laughter, and a deep
sense of shared purpose.

As a father, he was a man of great strength—both physically and emotionally. He was the proud father of three children: Elaine (55), Courtney (47), and Troy (42). His children were the center of his world, and he was the rock that supported them through life’s ups and downs. Whether offering a word of wisdom, a steady hand, a shoulder to lean on, or a good kick in the rear, he was always there for his family.

Greg was truly a “man’s man”—someone whose character, toughness, and work ethic were matched only by his deep kindness and generosity. He had a rare ability to make everyone feel valued, and his presence was one of quiet strength that inspired those around him. He had a talent for storytelling, captivating all who would listen with tales of adventure, humor, and life lessons learned through his many years of experience. His stories—often told with a twinkle in his eye and a hearty laugh—will be missed by all who had the privilege of hearing them.

Greg was a man who lived life fully and with purpose. Whether in his career, friends, or with his family, he gave his all. His loyalty to his loved ones was unwavering, and his love was a steady, constant force that left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda; his children, Elaine, Courtney, and Troy; his grandchildren, Zachary, Corinne and Carter and many other family members and friends who will miss his presence, wisdom, and storytelling immensely.

A celebration of his life has not been announced yet.
Though he is no longer with us, Greg will live on in the stories he told, the lessons he imparted, and the strength of his love, which will continue to guide his family for generations.

I have so many fond memories with Uncle Greg as I called him. I am not his nephew but he always treated me like a son. The whole family has. He was tough. He was brutally honest. He was hilarious, but most of all he was a loving protective teddy bear. His personality shines in the happiness and character of the children and grandchildren created. He will be missed dearly by anyone lucky enough to spend time with him. He is watching over his family still.

Although we didn't always see things from the same perspective, family always triumphed. I am going to miss seeing you. Your greatest accomplishment to me is your pick of an incredible wife and mother. Your children are successful, smart and caring because of you and Linda.Rest in Peace.
