Obituary For Fredrick William McGill
Fredrick W. McGill, lovingly known as Fred, passed peacefully at his home in Fort White, Florida on Thursday, May 14, surrounded by the love of his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren during his final days. He was 80 years old.
Fred was born on May 26, 1945, in New York City, New York, to Glenn L. McGill and Sara E. McGill, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph McGill, and his son, PFC Benjamin McGill (Army).
He is survived by his devoted wife, Edith βEdieβ McGill; his daughters, Celina French (Andrew Rottinghaus) and Amanda Pinfold (Ross Pinfold); his brother, Stephen McGill; and his cherished grandchildren, Drew French, Ryan French, Benjamin Pinfold, and Olivia Pinfold. He also leaves behind beloved nieces Shelly OβBryant Dixon and Stephanie Triplett, and nephew Jonathan McGill.
Fred proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army. He later graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in Business Administration. Throughout his life, Fred built a successful career in sales, working in automobiles, real estate, major appliances, and insurance. No matter the profession, his greatest talent was connecting with people. He never met a stranger.
A passionate student of politics and a deep spiritual thinker, Fred believed in keeping life simple, though he himself was far from a simple man. He worked tirelessly and sacrificed greatly to provide a wonderful life for his family. He rooted for the underdog, wanted the best for everyone around him, and touched countless lives through his kindness, wisdom, and genuine heart.
Fred loved retiring to the country in Fort White, where he found peace in nature, watching the birds and squirrels, and spending time with his loyal dogs, Blackbear and Snoopy, who were truly his best friends.
Above all else, Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, neighbor, and friend. The love shown by family and friends throughout his passing was a testament to the impact he made on so many lives.
There will never be another Fred like Fred McGill, and all who knew and loved him were truly blessed.
Rest easy, Fred. We love you. Keep watching over us until we meet again.
Condolences
