Obituary For Everett (Bill) William Stroud
Everett William "Bill" Stroud, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, in Lake City, Florida, following a courageous two year battle with lung cancer. Born on October 28, 1945, in Springfield, Ohio to Lucretia and John Justice and later adopted by Nacona Stroud, Bill's journey through life was marked by resilience and love.
In his formative years spent in Orlando after moving there during middle school, Bill developed a strong sense of community that would follow him throughout his life. He graduated from Colonial High School in 1963 while joining the Navy Reserves the year prior. His commitment to service led him to active duty in 1963 during the Vietnam War. As a signalman and journeyman aboard naval vessels in Vietnam, he earned several commendations including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal for his bravery.
After leaving military service in 1969 to focus on family life with his first wife Marsha and their three children, including Jennifer and Shawn, Bill returned to Orlando in the late 1970’s, where he built a career as a painter working for his father’s business as well as doing security work at the naval base.
In 1982 Bill married Cindy, together they welcomed two more children into their family: Crystal and Daniel. He worked for many years as contractor for Paul Davis Systems and as a public insurance adjuster in Orlando, Florida. His work allowed him to help countless families reclaim their lives following devastating storms and fires, a testament to his compassionate nature. Semi-retirement brought them both peace of mind at home in Lake City in 2007, until Cindy’s passing in 2008.
Bill married Ruby in 2012 with the welcome addition of daughters Karen and Valerie into his family, and he spent the rest of his years with Ruby by his side traveling the states, going on new adventures and making memories together with their children and grandchildren. Despite facing life challenges, Bill remained steadfastly devoted not only towards Ruby, also toward all those who loved him dearly, including his dogs Roxy, Tank, and Sophie.
Bill is survived by his wife Ruby Stroud of Lake City, Florida, Daughters Jennifer Wirth of Cincinnati, Ohio, Crystal Freeze of Kissimmee, Florida, Valerie Ledford of Lake City, Florida, Karen Ingersoll of Cusseta, Georgia, and sons Shawn Nacona Stroud of Springfield Ohio, Daniel Stroud of Toledo, Ohio.
