Obituary For Evelyn H Emerick
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Evelyn H. Emerick, who passed away peacefully in Lake City, Florida on March 9, 2025. She was born in Royal Oak (Madison Heights), Michigan.
Evelyn was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Desilets and Julia Desilets (Hjelsvold). She is survived by her loving sister, Carol; her devoted daughters, Linda (Rob), Susan (Larry), and Barbara; her daughter-in-law, Jean; her nine cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Elaine), Emily (Bryan), Eric, Holly, Ciara (Howard), Amanda (Caitlin), David, Sara (Peter), and Jessica (Aaron); and her three precious great-grandchildren, Charles, Maxwell, and Silas. She also leaves behind several dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles; her son, Charles Jr.; five brothers; and one sister.
Evelyn was a woman of many passions. She found joy in gardening, the peaceful observation of bird watching, the quiet escape of reading, and the mental challenge of playing Sudoku. Her faith was an important aspect of her life, and she was an active member of Coastal Community Church in Port St. John, Florida. Above all else, her family was the most important thing in her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Having spent most of her life in Michigan, Evelyn dedicated herself to raising her four children. She was a talented seamstress and lovingly sewed much of their clothing. In 1983, she moved to Brevard County, Florida, where she worked as a dedicated housekeeper at Cape Canaveral Hospital for over 20 years. In 2023, she moved to Lake City, Florida, to reside with her daughter Linda and son-in-law Rob.
Evelyn was married to her husband for 60 wonderful years until his passing in 2013. Demonstrating her determination and commitment to personal growth, she earned her GED in 1974 while raising her young family. She truly embodied the spirit of Jesus through her unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. She was dearly loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of a formal service, her family will be gathering in Michigan to lay her ashes to rest next to her beloved husband, Charles. They will also honor her memory with a picnic at Higgins Lake, a place where she created many cherished summer vacation memories with her family.
