Obituary For DAVID LEE HOLMES

DAVID LEE HOLMES known to many as Dusty or Dave a Military Veteran of the United States Navy has passed away in the peace of his own home, located in Jacksonville Florida on May 25th, 2024. He was born in Kankakee, Illinois October 14th, 1947, to the late Robert (Bob) Lincoln Holmes and Francis Eileen (Anderson) Holmes.

He was survived by his loving wife Renea Holmes of thirty-six wonderful years. The marriage not only gave him a true-life partner but also the love of two stepdaughters, Carina Cox, and Rachel Wiggins. Whom he treated as if they were his own. His stepdaughters gave him four beautiful grandbabies: Emily Cox, David Peeples, William Nix and Aidan Sandifer. He was survived by his mother Eileen Holmes and four siblings: Kathy Suber, Mic Holmes, Jon Holmes, and Fred Holmes. David Survived but preceded death to His father Bob Holmes and his grandparents Frank Holmes, Jesse Holmes, Allie Anderson and Frank Anderson.

Dusty enjoyed spending his spare time in his sanctuary, which we called his garage. In-fact it was a rarity to see him anywhere other than in the solidarity of his garage. David mastered ALL he put his mind to, from working on cars, motorcycles, copy machines, vending machines to even making jewelry or cigar box guitars there was nothing untouchable for Dusty’s creative, working hands. He could repair, build and fabricate just about anything you could think of. On the off-chance David was not in his sanctuary he would be joy riding his motorcycle or enjoying time with his family.

David Holmes will be greatly missed, and his memories will stay alive in our hearts forever more
