Obituary For David Gandy Woods
David G. Woods was known to many as Woody or the Big Guy. He was a military veteran of the Air Force and the Vietnam conflict. He passed away at the Good Shepherd facility in Advent Christian Village on December 17th, 2024. He was born in Philadelphia on October 18th, 1946, to the late Janet Isabel (Ferguson) Woods and Walter Earle Woods.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Christine and his son David Corey, three grandchildren, Brendan, Jodan and Ethan, older brother Walter and wife Anna, and his much-loved younger brother Daniel and wife Amanda.
Dave and his wife spent 25 years raising and showing chinchillas worldwide. A popular rancher and National judge. He was best known for his efforts in educating the new ranchers on the qualities of the animals and their proper care.
Dave worked for Merck for 42 years ending his career as a Laboratory Animal Technician working directly with the doctors in the research facility. His years of raising chinchillas made him an astute observer of animal behavior and an asset to the researchers. Meanwhile, his wry sense of humor kept his fellow employees amused and wondering what he was going to do next.
A celebration of life has not been announced yet.
Although Dave is no longer with us his memory will live on in his stories, his jokes and the memories his loved ones will carry with them. He will be deeply and eternally missed
