Chadwick Daniel Rickards, a man of many talents, a creative spirit, and a devoted son and brother, passed away peacefully in Lake City, Florida. His journey began in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he was born at Spartanburg Regional Hospital to his loving parents, Michael James and Sheila Diane (Cox) Rickards.

Chad was known by those close to him as a man who could see the potential in everything. Whether he was fixing a set of speakers to make them run perfectly or masterfully navigating a forklift at work, he had a natural gift for understanding how the world worked. He was a patient teacher and a clear communicator; he found great joy in explaining the "how-to" of a project, always willing to share his knowledge to help someone else succeed.

His heart was most at home when he was creating. An artist at his core, Chad was particularly gifted at drawing roses—a testament to his ability to capture beauty with a steady hand. His life was also filled with melody; he loved all types of music and found great expression in playing the piano and drums. In quieter moments, he enjoyed the simple comforts of life: a good movie, the art of cooking, and his favorite treat, butter pecan ice cream.

Above all, Chad’s life was defined by his love for his family and friends. He cherished the time spent with those he held dear and found peace in his faith and his time at church.

He is survived by his parents, Michael James Rickards and Sheila Diane Rickards; his sister, Tammy Star Crossno, and her husband, Roger Dale; and his brother, Christopher Michael Rickards. His memory will also be cherished by a host of extended family and friends who were touched by his kindness and his helpful spirit.

Memorial Service A formal celebration of Chad’s life will be held on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Church, 102 John Dodd Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
