Roscoe C. Collins, Jr. “RC” 75, of Hawthorne passed away on May 11, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy Bunkley Collins; Children; William “Bill” Collins and Marjorie Collins Hughes, Siblings; Connie Rupert, Ronald Collins, and Mimi Creekmore (Butch), Grandchildren; Christopher, Richard, Krystina, and Michael. Great grandchildren; Anjoulise, Shaun, Richard Jr, and Noah, numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
RC is preceded in death by his parents; Roscoe C. Collins, Sr and Marjorie Swing Collins, daughter, Kimberley Sue Burke and sister, Dyanne Vorsteg.
RC was born in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Florida in 1956. His father always instilled in him “If you work hard now, you can play later” motto which RC passed along to his children and grandchildren. He worked for 28 years as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic for the Alachua County School Board. RC had the love and knowledge to fix anything, he would always say, “Trust Me” I can fix it! RC loved being outdoors as he rode his Red Indian Trike Motorcycle, which allowed him to enjoy the freedom of Life. He would always take pride in the vehicles he drove, every vehicle he owned had a special “RC” touch. One of his daily routines would be to hop into his 2008 Toyota Tundra Extended Cab Limited Edition, head up to the store, and buy a few “itchy’s” (scratch tickets). If he wasn’t a winner he would say “Aww man, that ain’t right”! RC was a wonderful family man and friend, he loved with a true and honest heart. He would always say “everyone celebrates my birthday” (New Year’s Eve) and he especially enjoyed the homemade banana cream pie from Janel each birthday.
