John (Jack) E. Scott, 98, passed away on November 21, 2019 at the Haven Hospice of Lake City, Fl. Jack was born on September 4, 1921 to Whitlaw Reed Scott and Usher (Gault) of Wintersville, Ohio the youngest of 5 children. He is survived by his sons; Roy Armstrong (Leslie), John Scott, Jr. (Linda), and Gary Scott (Keith), many grandchildren, great grand children, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He served in the United States Army during WWII as a medic. Prior to serving his country, Jack worked on the farm where he began his love for nature and working with his hands. Once back stateside he was a heavy equipment operator and supervisor in the strip-mining and steel mill industries for over 30 years. Jack was a resident for 4 years at the Jenkins Veterans Domiciliary in Lake City, Fl. He was a great man that loved his family, friends, and country; and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Haven Hospice of Lake City. Arrangements have been entrusted to ICS Cremation & Funeral Home, 357 NW Wilks Lane, Lake City, FL 32055.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Veterans Domiciliary Home of Florida. Located at 751 SE Sycamore Terrace, Lake City, FL 32025.
